Description
Up for auction today one (1) D BRILLIANT UNCIRCULATED "GUAM (2009)" WASHINGTON QUARTER that is still in the original mint plastic/cello. Take a look at the pictures and see for yourself what a nice coin this one is. I hate when I buy "cello" coins and they fall out of the cello. So when I cut open a mint set I will take the time to seal all the edges to keep the coin from being exposed to the air. It's very time consuming but I am willing to do it to insure that you get a fresh "cello" coin.
NOTE: It is EXTREMELY hard to take pictures of shiny coins that are also inside of a plastic wrap. The reflections and glare many times will look like defects in the coin. THAT IS NOT THE CASE. This is a beautiful coin.

REGARDING MINT SET COINS
THE PROBLEM IS THE PLASTIC USED BY U.S. MINT - THE SOLUTION- HOT GLUE:
Since 2007 the United States Mint has been packaging the yearly mint sets in "plastic" instead of "cellophane" like they did for the previous 40 or 50 years. This has made it extremely if not impossible to cut the individual coins out of each mint set without exposing that coin to the moisture in the air for any length of time. Many times when you cut out a coin the plastic will just fall apart or just fall off the coin. So to solve that problem you will note that on all the coins that I cut from mint sets I will take the time and hot glue the exposed edges of the plastic so that they stay air tight for years to come. I do this within minutes of cutting them from the mint set. I do it in such a way that the plastic stays on the coin and the coin is not exposed to the air. That way when the collector buys the coin either next week or in twenty years it is as "fresh" if it was just cut from the mint set today. Just like when they were cut from the old "cello" mint sets
