Today we are happy to offer for sale a great antique hand-carved wooden duck decoy!
This wonderful wooden piece is carved to look like the beautiful Redhead Drake duck, and dates to the late 1800s or early 1900s. It still retains its original paint, featuring a brick-red head, dark grey/black chest and tail, and blue-grey body. Though unsigned, this duck's provenance is Dare County, North Carolina, and is identical to Ivey Dowdy ducks from that time period. A tag taped to the underside details this information; it comes from the estate of a very knowledgable collector.
Duck presents beautifully and is in very good antique condition, with original paint. Paint loss commensurate with age and some wood wear are both present, but no major damage has been noted. Please review all photos before purchasing.
This rare and wonderful wooden decoy will make an outstanding addition to any fine decoy collection...Fresh to the market from an old New England estate!
