Vintage Canvasback working decoy by Bay area King City, California carver, William "Bill" Goenne. Impressively large canvasback decoy in excellent condition that captures the classic lines of the drake canvasback perfectly. Goenne is a "latter day carver" whose decoys are well known among California carvers and collectors.

He is one of the most prolific carvers of the Pacific Flyway. His decoys were and still are favored hunters all across the country.
This particular decoy was probably carved in the early 70's and likely saw limited action judging from its condition. Some of his later decoys are stamped with his initials "WRG" earlier decoys typically lack his initials.
