ENGLISH CIRCA 1880s "PRIMUS" MARKED BRASS "RAPID RECTILINEAR" LENS MAHOGANY WOOD BRASS BOUND FIELD CAMERA FOR 6.25" x 4.5" PLATES
Camera folds up as shown.  Sports a "PRIMUS RAPID RECTILINEAR" marked brass lens mounted on a THORNTON-PICKARD style focal plane shutter that has a removable
front panel for access to the cloth shutter screen.
For 4 1/2" x 6 1/4" plate holders.   No plate holders come with camera.  One small thumbscrew appears to be lacking on both sides at the bottom of the rear struts (see close-up image - last photo) where a small threaded hole can be seen on each side. Each are darkened as whatever was there has been lacking for some time.  The missing knobs when present appear would put pressure to keep rear struts from moving - once set in place.  Uniquely designed leather carry strap in superb condition with no tears.
Iris activated aperture goes from F 18 to F 64.
Wear consistent with age and use.   Please see all photos as they are part of the description.  Bellows fine with no holes are wrinkles.  Comes with as shown an in place rubber shutter release bulb and pneumatic tube - altho all dried out and brittle.
Rear frosted focusing glass fine.
