Description
GREAT ANTIQUE BOHEMIAN VICTORIAN GRADUATED 4 ROW RED GARNET BANGLE BRACELETFor sale here is a lovely antique Bohemian red garnet bangle bracelet, probably from the Victorian period.
It is a nice quality piece and appears to be very well made and probably made in the region that is now the Czech Republic.
It is graduated, and by that, I mean it is wider on the top side (about 5/8”) than on the bottom side (about 7/16”), where most of these type bracelets are uniform in width.
This is accomplished by the stones on the top side of the bracelet being larger than those on the bottom side.
The stones are all rose cut and round in shape.
The largest stones (the ones on the top side) are about 5 mm in diameter and the smallest ones (on the bottom side) are about 3mm in diameter.
The stones are authentic natural garnets with a lovely deep red color and sparkle beautifully in the light. The photos are of the actual bracelet you will receive.
Please note: The stones in the actual bracelet may be a bit darker in color than they appear in some of my photos. Please be sure
to read the "Age and Condition" paragraphs below.
The bracelet is a hinged bangle style, with a push button locking clasp and an attached safety chain.
In my opinion, the base metal on this bracelet is not sterling silver (.925/1000), but rather a silver-colored alloy of some sort, perhaps nickel silver, also known as German silver.
I suspect at one time this had a gold wash over the metal as I see some faint evidence of that.
The fact that I find no markings of any kind on the metal reinforces my belief that this is not sterling silver.
I want to be clear that I am not an expert on jewelry.
This piece was part of my late Mother’s estate and I have no information on how or when she acquired it.
I personally have never worn the bracelet.
I have not had the bracelet tested or examined by a jeweler and I am stating what I honestly believe to be true about the bracelet based on my own research and observations.
As is the case with all of my fine jewelry this bracelet has been well cared for in my smoke free home.
I do my best to describe all items as accurately as possible and to the best of my ability.
Some of my photos may be somewhat lighter or darker than actual to better show detail or color.
However, do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, comments, or with requests for additional pictures.
I will get back to you as soon as I am able.
I want your transaction with me to be exactly the way I want mine to be when I am the buyer.

Age and Condition
Circa – 1890-1910.
The bracelet is in excellent original condition.
Please look closely at the photos as they are an important part of my description of this item.
There are no missing stones.
I looked the bracelet over with a jeweler’s loupe and saw only two stones with very minor chips.
The metal is in good condition with the exception of a bit of tarnish and a few missing tiny little prongs (these are only noticeable with a jeweler’s loupe and there are multiple ones of these on each stone, so this doesn’t seem to have affected the integrity of the bracelet in any way I can see) – see the last photo for a close-up of some of these.
I see only a few very light signs of use.
It is really in incredible condition for its age.
The clasp opens and closes crisply as it should.
The safety chain is intact and appears to be original to the bracelet.
The bracelet is beautiful and ready to wear.
Please keep in mind these photos may be blown up at least 8-10 times normal, so anything you see will look 8-10 times larger in the photos than it really is.
Please note: if you see a dark spot in the photos, it is from my camera and is not a mark on the piece.
It will be either just to the right of center towards the bottom or slightly above center on the right side of the photo.
Approximate Dimensions
At its widest point on the top side, the bracelet is about .625” (1.6 cm) in width.
On the bottom side, at the narrowest point it is about .4375” (1.1 cm) wide.
The actual opening of the bracelet is about 2.25” (5.7 cm) left to right and about 2.” (5.1 cm) top to bottom.
My wrist is about 6.25” (15.7 cm) around and the bracelet fits me fine – see my photos.
The bracelet is about 7” (17.8 cm) around the inside.
Approximate Weight
About 1.25 ounce (36 grams).
