Description
A pair of ornate porcelain penguin figures with finely detail gold gilt decoration, very similar to the "Fishnet" style of decoration seen on Herend porcelain figures. These decorative penguin figures are both marked with a "Made in Japan" sticker, and have beautiful rust red, royal blue, and gold gilt details. The bottom of each porcelain penguin figure has a plastic stopper, and is hollow inside. These penguins do not have any holes in the top, so they are not designed to be salt and pepper shakers. Instead the penguin figures can be filled with sand and used as paperweight, so they can be functional as well decorative. Since they are a matched pair, they could potentially be used as bookends. These Herend style penguin figures are in excellent vintage condition. There is some minor wear visible on the gold decoration, mostly on the tip of the beaks and the top of the heads. However, there are no visible chips, cracks, stains, or any other major signs of wear.Measurements: The vintage porcelain penguin figures are 4 3/4" tall, and 2 3/4" wide from beak to tail.
