    Description

Purchased by myself as a Photographic  resale item because it was a
    Very
    Usable
ITEM: Welmy Six Model W of  early 1951# 13695, "GREEN FROG EYES" , only 120 rollfilm camera that was made with green filters on the viewfinders for contrast in B&W film shooting.
MECHANICALLY: Before WW2 ended Fuji Kogaku, no relationship to Fujifilm; produced Lyra Six camera and shutter & Terionar anastigmat 75mm F:3.5 lens. As WW2 ended so did Fuji Kogaku. Many Japanese firms changed their names to hide their WW2 production history. In 1951 Welmy cameras appeared and it appears this camera which has an early serial # 13695 , has a 00 sized shutter  from Fuji kogaku and its Fuji-Ka shutter B,1~200 all speeds WERE -working and tested 100%, six months ago.  Welmy struts are nice, Bellows HAS  holes causing  light leaks, sliding bar locking latch on door all okay. Winder on top is good. Sliding red cover all good. Drop down horizontal standard is good, needs a tap on it bottom sometimes, then pops open.  Front cell lens focus in meters turns smoothly
.  Leather missing on camera, so I repainted it satin black. Shutter release engages shutter release arm correctly. All chrome and remaining leather in good Condition.
    Note: Six months later.........
Oh my God, No, the bellows tore when I opened the camera, infinity is very close with a 5x lupe, The WW2 shutter is NOT timing correctly on many speeds, BUT;  It works; its just off, 1/200th is not firing at the release. Definitely I have to change the ad description on this sale. Strictly a display piece now. The camera was worked on six months ago, then put in storage. I need parts to repair, that I do Not have!
    OPTICALLY:
Lens= Terionar 75mm F:3.5 no.105474, clear , unscratched, uncoated. Camera looks pretty with the green filters.
Dual reflex viewers are crystal clear and Greenish. Even though this is a Zeiss Ikonta design the Japanese builders were very innovative and designed a Green tinted viewfinder and reflex mirror system, for B&W rollfilm 120 use. Sliding cover with red filter also works well.
    USE: Collectible  For display only!!!!!!
Top notch specs, workmanship from Japan
    in folding camera in
    1951!
Info: Model W,  called:"GREEN FROG EYES"  is hard to find on eBay, especially Serviced! Often the 1951 Viewfinder optics are filthy and the lens and shutter a mess, bellows shot! Since this is normal; I service all model W,s as a collectors item, and have to charge for the skills and time. Models E and L are much more common CVF types and of NO interest to me. Model W was the only folding camera made in the world with Green Round filters in the viewfinders; one direct, one reflected off a mirror;  so you could see the contrast in your final image, provided you had the slip on Green filter; 34mm over the lens. Most often the lens Gr slip on filter
    doesn't
come with the cameras as they were lost after being removed for color film shooting days. Enjoy Regards, Don
