This is a rare treasure to find, with so many original late 19th century charms on it! There are 16 charms, with one duplicate (the clamshell). There is no doubt in my mind they are all of the same era. The standouts are the cricket bats and ball one with a very Nouveau motif to it, the little locomotive, the love token 6 pence coin (dated 1897, inscribed 1898), the dory (super detail!), and definitely the human skull! Most of these charms are hollow construction and very light weight: quite different than the ones from the 20th century. A few of them have some bumps and bruises, showing their age and being used on a charm bracelet. The worst is the tea pot that looks to be a match to the cream jug. There are 2 different Eidelweiss bells: one is missing it's little gong attachment. One of the charms seems to be a clip of some sort, to hang something from. It seems to be very fragile, so I have not tried to figure out exactly what it is. Other than the cream jug, I only saw a mark on the man's shoe charm...on the inside of the upper attached loop it looks to be a forgeign mark, possibly French. The bracelet is marked STERLING on the sister hook clasp. Most of the charms are soldered to the bracelet with the exception being 2 on split rings. This bracelet is exactly as I found it, including all antique patina.
